Marketing Certifications - Is the Investment Worth It?

Updated: Oct 5, 2022

With so many marketing certifications available, it can be difficult to determine if the investment is worth it. Let's take a look at three of the most popular marketing certifications and see if they're right for you.

Google Analytics Individual Qualification (IQ) Certification

If you want to get certified in Google Analytics, you'll need to pass the Google Analytics Individual Qualification (IQ) exam. The exam covers four main topic areas: planning and principles, implementation and data collection, configuration and administration, and reporting and analysis. Because the exam is administered by Google, you can be sure that it covers everything you need to know about Google Analytics. The certification is valid for 18 months and costs $99.

Marketing Research Professional (MRP) Certification offered by the Institute for Market Research (IMR)

The IMR's Marketing Research Professional (MRP) certification is designed for market research professionals with at least two years of full-time experience. The certification process includes an online application, written exam, and oral examination. The written exam covers topics such as research design, data collection methods, questionnaire design, sampling methodologies, and data analysis techniques. The oral examination tests your knowledge of market research concepts and helps assess your communication skills. The Certification costs $1,495 for members of the IMR and $1,795 for non-members.

Digital Marketing Certified Associate (DMCA) offered by the Digital Marketing Institute (DMI)

The Digital Marketing Institute's DMCA certification is designed for those who want to develop or enhance their digital marketing skills. The program covers nine modules that cover topics such as digital marketing tools and techniques, website optimization, search engine marketing, social media marketing, and email marketing. Upon completion of all nine modules, students must take a proctored exam to earn their certification. The cost of the program is $2,250.

Deciding whether or not to get a marketing certification depends on your goals, experiences, budget, and time commitment. If you're just getting started in your marketing career or are looking to learn more about digital marketing tools and techniques, the DMI's DMCA certification may be a good option for you. If you're looking to specialize in market research or analytics, either the MRP or GAIQ could be a good fit. And if you're tight on time or budget , there are a number of free or low-cost online courses that can help you develop your marketing skills without breaking the bank . Whichever route you choose , make sure that you do your research so that you can make an informed decision about which path is best for you .
